Earring Care Guide

Your earrings deserve the same attention as your centerpiece — here's how to keep them perfect.

How to use your earring backings
Butterfly / Push Backs (most common)
Pinch the two wings together to release. Slide back onto the post and press gently until you feel a soft click. Do not over-tighten — this weakens the metal over time.
Screw Backs
Thread the backing onto the post by turning clockwise until snug. Do not overtighten. To remove, turn counter-clockwise. Ideal for precious stones — the most secure backing type.
Latch Backs / Lever Backs (hoops)
Press the lever tab gently inward to open. After inserting the hook, let the lever close naturally — do not force it shut. If the latch feels loose, bring it in for a free adjustment.
Omega Backs / Clip-Ons
For clip-ons: squeeze the clip open, position on your earlobe, and release slowly. Avoid wearing for extended periods (over 2 hours) to prevent discomfort.
Quick Care Tips
🧼
Cleaning
Wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth after each wear. For diamond or gemstone earrings, use warm soapy water and a toothbrush, then pat dry completely before storing.
🚿
Remove Before…
Always remove earrings before swimming, showering, or sleeping. Moisture can weaken backings and cause skin irritation.
💼
Storage
Store earrings in pairs in a dedicated earring holder or small compartmentalized box. This keeps pairs together and prevents posts from scratching stone surfaces.

Professional Check
Bring earrings in for a prong and backing inspection every 6 months. Loose prongs on stud earrings are one of the leading causes of stone loss.
